I guess that sums up the majority of reactions to the news article on February 12th in your day's newspaper.
The little phrase about 'words that hit right between your eyes' has never been so appropriate.

Mallika Sherawat is back (or backless, whichever way you see it).
And this time around, she has God, truly, at her side.

So, don't anybody ever dispute it.

Mallika Sherawat is slated to play the role of Jesus Christ's confidante in a Hollywood production called
The Aquarian Gospel .

Yeah, I know.

You have been taken on a similar ride, some time back.

You had to concentrate so hard, harder than you even did for the Math paper in your Higher Secondary Board Exams, to catch her in that Jackie Chan Thriller called The Myth.

There were a significant few who even thought that her presence was The Myth in the movie, but we will give them the benefit of doubt.

The PR machinery of dear MS was at their shrillest best with the hype of her sharing screen space with
THE JACKIE CHAN.

It was more of 'looky-here-you-insignificant-earthlings-where-madam has-reached-within-a-short-time' undertone to it, than anything else.

And the blink-and-you-miss-role came and went so fast, and the Constant Fans saw through it so fast that the PR machinery was nowhere to be seen for a long time.

Till of course, Mehebooba happened.
And we sat through that too, didnt we?

Alright,back to The Aquarian Gospel.

The movie is based on the 60's best seller by Levi.H.Dowling, which traces the 'lost years' of Jesus Christ, from age 13 to 30, which most people theoretically believe to have been spend traveling through Central Asia.

There are scores of books and stronger beliefs about Him visiting Kashmir in this Season of Inner Discovery.

Mallika Sherawat plays the role of Saraswati, a celibate Yogini (am trying my level best not to smile here), who Jesus meets in India, and forges a beautiful bond of friendship during his period of stay in ancient India.

The Aquarian Gospel is directed by Drew Heriot, who made the best selling Movie in the DVD circuit in 2006-2007, THE SECRET.

Well, at least, this time around, Mme.MS is in safe hands.

About the role, Mallika is quoted to have said "I find that in most mythological and spiritual film stories, women seem to be lacking in any true wisdom or a sense of humour," "I look forward to bringing both these qualities to this character." Ahem.

Err, I just went through the inimitable and enviable 'body'of work of Ms.Mallika Sherawat, and none of it has any of these qualities being portrayed by her in any characterizations.

So, this would be a brand new avatar of Ms.Sherawat.

After,'racy', 'raunchy' and 'vampish' (epithets coined by the reigning media), we would soon be fortunate enough to see the 'wise' and 'humorous' side of Ms.Mallika Sherawat soon.

And to think, it took a Hollywood Director to find these sagely features in her.

Drew Heriot, the Director, goes on to say, "Mallika is not just a pretty face, she is versatile, has a background in philosophy, so she will convey the richness of the subject matter. "

Personal life

She worked as an air hostess prior to entering films and it was around this time that she married a pilot, Karan Singh Gill. They are now divorced.

Sherawat's birth name is Reema Lamba; she says that adopted the screen name of "Mallika", meaning "empress" to avoid confusion with other actresses named Reema. "Sherawat" is her mother's maiden name. She has stated that she uses her mother's maiden name because of all the support her mother has provided for her. There is also a controversy regarding her age. A news channel in India had alleged that she was already a graduate before starting to work as an airhostess and hence she can't be as young as she claims. She has also a degree in philosophy from Miranda House, Delhi University.

Mallika's onscreen debut was in Lak Tunoo, a music video by Surjit Bindrakhia.^[3] She attracted wide notice with her appearance in the 2003 movie Khwahish. By Indian standards the movie was quite racy, however it was known for its naturalistic and realistic topic. In 2004, she starred in Murder, a film inspired by Hollywood's Unfaithful that again challenged Indian film standards. She received a nomination for Best Actress at the Zee Cine Awards ceremony for her performance in Murder. The film went on to become one of the biggest hits of the year.^[4]

Since then, Sherawat has been known for her courage to express her opinions in public,^[5] and went on to make headlines through her outfits and blunt statements.^[5]

She also made news when she won a small role in a Jackie Chan movie, The Myth, where she again appeared in revealing costumes. She made a widely publicized appearance at the Cannes Film Festival to promote The Myth.

Since her debut, Mallika was often accused of simply being a sexy woman without talent. However, her performance in the 2006 film Pyaar Ke Side Effects co-starring Rahul Bose won her praise from around the industry,^[6] and the film also garnered decent collections.^[7] The movie stamped Mallika as an actress who started off as an item girl and joined the main stream later on.

She is now beginning to work in the Kollywood (Tamil) film industry as well. She plays the second fiddle in Dasavatharam starring Kamal Haasan, Asin and Jayapradha.

Her latest project is a 10-minute role in Himesh Reshammiya's Aap Ka Suroor - The Real Love Story, which has been called a "vampish role".^[8] Mallika herself has protested, saying that it is a negative role but not a vamp role.^[8] With Aap Ka Suroor she has become the most expensive "Item Girl",^[9] as she charged Rs. 1.5 crore^[9] for her Item number in the movie.

Sherawat has been voted as one of Asia's 100 most beautiful people by the Hong Kong based fashion and beauty magazine, Cover.^[10]

Malaika Arora Khan bags her first full length role

Malaika Arora Khan is set to sizzle on-screen again, but this time not in an item number but a full-fledged role and that too with her husband Arbaaz Khan. Produced by Ashok Kheny and directed by famous south director Indrajith, the film is tentatively tilted ‘Shaadi Ke After Effects’ and will also star Johnny Lever, Tara Sharma and Madhuri Bhattacharya.

Ashok Kheny claims that the basic theme of the film is marriage and infidelity.

“It’s a common occurrence that many married couples are attracted to their neighbour’s spouse after a period of time. After some years of marriage, they start thinking that the neighbour’s wife is more beautiful than their own and start neglecting their own. But here, the woman decides to teach her erring husband a lesson,” the newly turned producer adds.

Indrajith, meanwhile, is confident that the film will do well on the basis of the script and style. “It is a full length comedy film high on entertainment,” he says. “This film exploits Arbaaz Khan’s potential and after seeing him in this film, I’m confident that he will be in demand.

Mallika Sherawat to play prostitute-turned-politician

Things are finally happening for the Sherawat girl. After receiving applauds for her performance in the hit ‘Welcome’, the jat girl is being considered for a leading role in director Kundan Shah’s political satire that he has been working on for many years

The film will be a satirical humour dealing with the story of a prostitute who is on the run. She goes through many testing circumstances and eventually becomes the chief minister of a state.

However, Mallika has not yet signed the dotted line. Even, Shah hasn’t yet confirmed Mallika’s presence in the film. All he says is that the cast is being finalized.
